When compared to other drugs such as tobacco and alcohol, magic mushrooms do minimal if any damage to the human body system. Over the years, researchers have done a number of studies which focus on the dangers and effects of psilocybin, the key component found in magic truffles. A number of governments the world over have classified magic mushrooms as an illegal drug, but the reality is, they do very minimal damage when compared to most of the other drugs they have allowed.
Drug Ranking Research
In a recent research project, the former UK government chief drug advisory, Professor David Nutt, ranked drugs according to the potential and actual harm they inflict to both self and society. He worked with some of the top experts in this field and successfully quantified his ranking.
In the research which he entitled, Drug Harms in the UK, it was found that magic truffles ranked way below most of the other drugs because they posed no harm to society and extremely minimal harm to individuals. The drug that took the top slot for societal and self-harm was alcohol with others such a heroine and tobacco topping the list. Alcohol is therefore classified as more harmful than heroine.
Other studies that followed suggested that magic mushrooms taken in moderation can actually have lots of positives which far outweigh the negatives.
Some of the drugs on the list investigated by Professor David Nutt and their respective overall (harm to self and society) score include:
• Alcohol – 72
• Heroine – 55
• Crack cocaine – 54
• Cocaine – 27
• Tobacco – 26
• Cannabis - 26
• Khat – 9
• LSD – 7
• Mushrooms - 6
The Little Harm from Mushrooms
Starting with the basics, magic truffles do not cause any physical or bodily harm. Also, contrary to some misplaced opinions, these mushrooms do not cause any bodily dependence or addiction, the only dependence which is also rare is psychological. It is the same case with cannabis where you feel dependent to the extent of relaxation, but your body doesn’t actually yearn for it.
It is also hard and extremely difficult for that matter to overdose on mushrooms. This is because the toxic level of psilocybin is approximated to be over 2,000 times higher than its psychoactive level.
The only harm one can get directly from magic mushrooms is when they have a bad trip. When this happens, the individual may experience anxiety, fear, and delusions. Fortunately, after the drug wears off, such unfortunate effects of bad tripping also die down. Bad trips rarely cause individuals to harm others, but accidentally they may cause harm to the individuals themselves. This is why it is always a good idea for you to trip in a safe and friendly environment.
If you want magic mushrooms, it is important you get them from recommended sources such as because foraging wild mushrooms can be risky as some of them are poisonous and can be easily confused with magic mushrooms. Some people have been reported dead after eating wrong mushrooms which may also damage the liver.
Actual magic mushrooms have no risk of poisoning and when grown in kits, the risk is completely eliminated. Use them sensibly and you will reap the benefits of refreshed perspective to life and a change of personality for the better.
